A Lasting Gift: Tim Guinee & Daisy Foote
A Lasting Gift: Tim Guinee & Daisy Foote

Growing up in New Hampshire, playwright and councilwoman for Marbletown, New York, Daisy Foote fell in love with the tranquil rural landscapes around her home.
“We lived in one of four houses on a dirt road,” she remembers. “But the town got hit hard by the tech boom, and there were no guardrails to balance growth with protecting the land. Now there’s very little left of what I experienced as a kid.”
She and her husband—actor, director, and climate activist Tim Guinee—moved in the early 2000s to New York’s Hudson Valley, where they now live in the quiet village of Stone Ridge. “Tim knew about this area because he used to rock-climb here,” she continues. “I was drawn to the region because it reminded me of where I grew up—it felt like coming home. And I’ve become very protective of it.”
Over the years, the couple became acquainted with OSI’s staff and learned about the organization’s decades of conservation work in the Hudson Valley. When it was time to consider estate planning, Tim and Daisy chose to include OSI as a beneficiary in their will.
“It was a pretty easy decision,” says Tim. “Land is the only thing that lasts, but it will only be there for future generations if we create safeguards now. When we look out the window and see this community that we love so much, it makes us appreciate the role OSI has played in preserving the character of this area. Who else would we give to?”
Daisy agrees, adding, “We’re very lucky that we landed in such a special place where OSI has already done so much. Supporting OSI’s work gives me a sense of peace, knowing that this balance of nature with our community will be protected forever.”
